For our first cheese entry, allow me to present these two cheeses. Flora and I picked them up in at Cheese Co. in Noe Valley, as part of Yuppie Sunday&174; The girl there delivered nicely on our request for one soft/stinky, and one medium-hard/interesting.
The Fougeru (French cowsmilk) is decorated with dried fern leaves on the outside. It's ultra-creamy and not stinky like bleu or foot cheese. It has a real vegetable taste. Flora said "broccoli" as I said "brussels sprouts." [4 stars]
The Marèchal is a solid but smooth raw cow's milk cheese, washed in wine and herbs. We both found it deliciously complex, especially when sliced thin. We ate it with blackberries. [4 stars]
